What to do
If we ask for more information about a location, prop, or another potential risk, please reply to the message in Image Manager with as much information as you have, even if it's none. After replying, leave the asset in your Image Manager until we get back to you; don't send it back to the queue.
We will get back to you when Legal has finished their review.
Why we do this
We appreciate that everyone wants their content to go online ASAP! Our Editors review content as fast as possible, but when it could pose a legal risk, we first need to clear it with our Legal team.
We do this to protect you and the Co-op. Any money we have to spend defending a legal claim is money we can't pay back to our community. We also do this to protect our clients, who rely on our careful review processes.
Asking is a matter of due diligence and doesn't mean we won't accept your content as-is. Our aim is always to try and publish content, and if we can do so without a model or property release, we will.
Most of the time, Legal gives our Editors a quick "yes" within a few days and we can proceed with publishing your content. If the queue is busy, we don't have enough information about your content, or the Legal team needs to do more extensive research, it can take time, and we ask for your patience.
How you can help
Do a quick Google search and track down some information to include with your reply; this saves us time and makes the process much faster and smoother. It's okay if you don't have all the details, but we appreciate it when you try to give us a bit more than "it's just a building" or "it's just some random art."
Locations
The name, address, website, and/or city are beneficial. It also helps to know where you were standing when you created the image or clip (e.g. are you on a public sidewalk or private property) and if you needed to buy a ticket to get there.
Props, decorative elements, artworks, and clothing
Please send us the manufacturer's name, independent maker, artist, store, or even an online ordering link would be very helpful. The more details, the better.
