If you filmed your clips natively in portrait mode (vertical) you can now easily edit these in an all-vertical timeline in Davinci Resolve 18.
Here's how you set it up:
- create a new timeline (cmd/ctrl + N)
- open the project settings (Shift + 9)
- select the original source resolution
- select the ‘Use vertical resolution’ checkbox
In the examples below, we’ll use 1080 x 1920 and 2160 x 3840 — remember that 4k and higher requirest the Studio version:
If you have clips that need to be oriented vertically, select them in the media pool, right-click, choose ‘clip attributes,’ and select ‘image orientation’ 90 degrees left or right:
Once you’re ready to export, make sure ‘Use vertical resolution’ is checked in the Video tab of the Delivery page:
