Below are the requirements for accepted members to submit video footage to Stocksy. Applicant upload requirements can be found here.
General
- .mp4 or .mov format
-
Codecs accepted: Apple Prores in 4444 and 422 formats, and H.264
- Most clips should be Prores 422; Prores 4444 is generally used for motion graphics and composites and should not be used for Stocksy unless your clips have an alpha channel (if you're not sure what this means, use Prores 422).
- Minimum bitrates for H.264:
-
- 4K - 45Mbit/s (45000kbps)
- 1080p - 20Mbit/s (20000kbps)
-
- Minimum 720p (1280 x 720)
- Export at the highest native resolution
- Do not upsize
- Must be color graded
- 5-30 seconds recommended
- 23.976 (NTSC region) or 25 (PAL region) frames per second recommended
- We accept 30fps if the content warrants the extra frame speed (i.e. mobile video)
- Clips faster than 25fps should be conformed or slowed down to 23.976fps or 25fps
- Shutter speed should be double the frame rate
- Remove audio before exporting
- Logos, branding or trademarks must be removed or property released
- Vertical video is accepted and encouraged
Ungraded (Optional)
After first uploading a graded clip, you can attach an ungraded version if filmed in an approved log profile.
- We accept ungraded footage shot in a log profile, i.e. S-Log, C-Log, D-Log, F-Log, V-Log, N-Log, ARRI Log-C, REDlogFilm, Blackmagic Film, GP Log (introduced in GoPro 12), iPhone log (introduced at 15 Pro model)
- Log profiles should be left untouched and set to their default settings
- We do NOT accept the following for our ungraded product offering:
- D-Log from the original Mavic Pro
- iPhone ungraded, models earlier than the iPhone 15 Pro (even if shot with an app like Filmic Pro)
- DSLR footage that was not shot with LOG (i.e. cine 4, Magic Lantern)
- Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) profiles
- The ungraded version needs to be an exact replica of the graded one, with all branding/logos removed and the horizon straightened (if done in graded). You should not apply any noise reduction or add grain to the ungraded footage.
- Export in a .mov container with a ProRes 422 HQ codec
- PC Users: Adobe Premiere supports exporting Apple ProRes. In Export Settings, set your format to Quicktime and choose ProRes 422 HQ from the preset options
- PC Users who don’t have Adobe Premiere: You can use Shutter Encoder (free) to transcode from DNxHR HQ to ProRes 422 HQ. We have a video tutorial on how to do it.
- For film scans, ask for a flat scan with a bit rate of 8 or higher
Mobile video
- Film at the highest resolution possible
- 23.976 or 25fps is preferred if available on your device
- Lock settings so the exposure and white balance don’t change as you film
