In creative work, most ideas have been done in some form. That doesn’t mean originality is impossible, but it does mean we’re all influenced by what came before. That’s part of the creative process, and we embrace it.
You were accepted into the co-op because we believe you bring something unique and valuable. We all benefit from a collection that stands out. Our goal is to support your growth and encourage you to create work that reflects your own style and perspective.
We don’t restrict contributors from exploring similar subjects, since clients often want variety. However, repeating the same content without evolving it devalues your work, your peers’ work, and the collection as a whole. Imitating other artists (even successful ones) won’t lead to long-term success and may cause us to re-evaluate your membership.
Take inspiration wherever you find it, but always make it your own.
What to Do
If you think your work has been copied within Stocksy, please feel free to contact Support. We take every report seriously and will thoroughly review the situation. If we agree a line was crossed, we’ll take action. If not, we’ll explain why.
If your work is copied outside of Stocksy, let us know. Our Legal team has successfully worked with other platforms to remove infringing content. While not all cases can be resolved, we’ll do what we can to protect your work.
