When we need to adjust the white balance, such as in pictures with a predominantly white region like snow, having the right background color can be crucial.

A proximity color reference can help us reveal color tints in the highlights that otherwise wouldn't be noticeable.

Switch background from dark grey to white:

With a white background, you can quickly notice the magenta tint in the highlights.
