Here’s how to edit and export vertical videos in DaVinci Resolve.
Set the correct timeline resolution and vertical orientation for your source video. You can do this from two different places:
1. From the Timeline Resolution in the global project settings:
2. Or from each individual timeline setting by unchecking Use Project Settings and selecting your vertical size. While there, select Center crop with no resizing from the Mismatched Resolution box:
You should physically film with your camera vertically for better framing decisions instead of vertically cropping your horizontal videos.
Typically, videos filmed with smartphones and newer cameras will be recorded vertically.
However, you must manually rotate your clips when filming vertically with cameras that don’t natively orient the footage. Select the clips that need to be rotated, right-click and select Clip Attributes, then choose the correct rotation from the Image Orientation:
To export your vertical clips, please ensure you have the correct source size in the resolution box and check Use vertical resolution:
