User-generated content (UGC) is any form of creative content—such as images, videos, text, and audio—that has been created and shared by users of an online platform. Everything posted to Twitter (microblogs), Instagram (social networks), and YouTube (content communities), for instance, is technically UGC.
At Stocksy, our clients rely on our high curation standards, so we need to ensure we're not flooding the collection with tons of content they have to scroll through to find hidden gems. Two particular areas where we're keeping a tight edit are 1) large batches of mobile snaps, and 2) staged series that are aiming for a "UGC look" by placing less care into lighting and other technical considerations.
The UGC we want to see is:
- Genuine
- Candid
- Spontaneous/Impromptu
- Raw
- Gritty
- Revealing
- Original
- Surprising
- Intimate
- Legitimately Funny
- Ironic
- Clever
- Poignant
- Thrilling
- Entertaining
- Exhilarating
- Relatable
- Real
- Heart-warming
- Inspiring
