With the advent of color management in DaVinci Resolve, it's time we leave behind our issues about shot matching and hand over the responsibility to the algorithms that compute the color space transformations correctly for us.
In this article, we'll learn the ins and outs of Resolve's color management workflow. Instead of relying on our ability to judge color, which can be deceiving given so many variables, we'll let Resolve do the color space transformations, preserving image integrity and unifying all camera sources into a common working color space. The advantages of a scene-referred system outweigh by far the traditional display referred system, in color space accuracy, ease of color grading, and finally in delivering for a variety of end-uses without the need to re-grade our footage.
In this article we'll go over:
- Display Referred
- Scene Referred
- Project Level Color Management
- DaVinci Wide Gamut
- Node Level Color Management
- Raw Clip Settings
